Nihilist Prayer
This as a release idea is brilliant. Two total gems of fury make this solid, no filler. Only available for one week then good fuckin' luck to you. This is a beast with more of a waggle in it's swagger while it kills you. Glad I got this, can't wait 'til their debut end of 2014!
The release of ‘Consume’ marks our first year as a band. It’s been exactly a year since the recording of ‘Mære’ and we now have two new tracks available for free online, accompanied by 100 physical copies which are available for whatever amount you would like to pay. These tracks will only be available to stream, download and purchase between 26.05.14 and 01.06.14, after that they shall be taken down and will no longer be available from us.
We love sharing our music, and the four of us strive to present and package it in a complementary way, but for us the key is that it is consumed. In limiting the time our music is available we want to push expectations of what can be done with the digital format and we encourage anyone who enjoys it to share it - once it is gone, it is gone, but it will be interesting to see if it is sustained by those who enjoy it.
This release ends a period of time we are extremely proud of and grateful for, and has given us the momentum to write our first LP, to be recorded in December 2014.

I was in a miserable place when I discovered this LP. Something in the singer's echoing screams paired with the slicing riffs of the building guitars awoke a therapeutic purge of agony and helped me carry on through some rough days to follow. It's unapologetic and raw and beautiful because of it. hush_swarth
I don't mean to be a "first albums only" elitist or anything of the sort since I didn't even discover these guys til maybe a year and change ago, but truth be told- the demo tracks are my favorites despite Deafheaven's undeniable growth and evolution into a broader sort of awesome. satangutsandchristcorpsepaint

I generally appreciate the album by album move away from hardcore towards extreme metal. Yet for me personally, this is where the balance is perfect. Kind of like Metallica's Ride the Lightning: subsequent albums were more sophisticated and complex, yet less intense, too. Great to come back to, again and again. jornfin
